High Street or High End Make-up? – Fabulous Highlighters

Hello beauts!

I’m back blogging and ready to immerse myself in this world that I love so very much again! LIFE UPDATE: The reason I’ve been distant is due to the fact that I’ve moved out of my family house!.  At 23 years of age I’m officially a proper adult living in my first house with my boyfriend – whoop whoop!!, its now been a week and we haven’t killed each other so life is very good.

As you know I am a beauty blogger so thought we’d get straight back in there with a blog post about one of my favourite make-up products – HIGHLIGHTERS.

I have a rather large collection of highlighters, to be honest I’m a bit of a highlighter hoarder. I love lots of high street ones, and adore my high end ones. Therefore I thought I’d blog about two very similar products, with price ranges on either ends of the spectrum.

High End
It has to be the highlighter adored by all: MAC Mineralise Skin Finish powder in ‘Soft and Gentle’. This to me is one of my favourite highlighters in joint position with CT Bronze and Glow palette. Soft and gentle is quite a peachy pink, rose gold, and bronze highlighter which goes with any make up look. Its a really long lasting product when applied and tends to last me from day to night.

The powder is also very pigmented so you really don’t need to apply a lot, this is great as it lasts forever!. At £24 this is what you want to hear when you’re trying to decide whether to invest in a high end product or not. I actually love these powders from MAC so much that I went and purchased a second which has now become one of my favourite bronzers – read all about that beauty here.

High Street
The second highlighter I want to mention is the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder in ‘Pink Shimmer’. I purchased this from Superdrug a few months ago after seeing it looking all beautiful on the counter. I had never tried anything from MUA (Makeup Academy) before so thought a highlighter would be a good judge of the brands quality. I chose this shade as I thought it most resembled MAC soft and gentle.

For £3 I thought that this highlighter was an absolute bargain. The amount of product that you get this was a winner instantly for me. Also I love the swirling pattern of the powder in the case. When it comes to product quality and wear I don’t think that this highlighter is that great. When first applied the highlighter does look really pretty and pearl like on the cheekbones, but once any type of wind hits your face its gone. I would therefore recommend to dust over a cream highlighter to provide some stay put support! I also think the texture of the product is a bit lack lustre. Unlike the almost creamy texture of the MAC powder the MUA powder is well… powdery. Its one of those you have to not be wearing any black jeans with otherwise you might drop it all over them and have make up all down you! – you have been warned.

So I think you’ve guessed it… High Street or High End Highlighters goes to MAC ‘soft and gentle’. Its a great product and for the price you pay you receive a long lasting, good quality and trustworthy product – pretty much a new best friend.

This would be a perfect treat for yourself, or a friend, and could be the first gift you add to your Christmas wish list (its not long before Santa comes now really).

Hope your all happy and well, I’ve missed you!

Ah great post! I feel with only certain products, it’s right to go high end, but others like mascara – you can find amazing drugstore ones! I’m yet to go high end with a highlighter but I deffo wouldn’t say no after this post! Great job xo
