Perfect make up for the workplace

I love my day job as an analyst, everything is constantly different and no two days are the same. My job is quite nerdy spending most days doing excel formulas or presenting my work in meetings to seniors. I don’t really like to wear much make up to work, I always feel like I like the quality of my work to become a memory with a colleague, not the multiple layers of foundation, highlight and eye makeup.

Although there are a fair few products in my work make up look, I feel like I am left with a fresh faced, light and dewy outcome. I feel that this makes me look professional, well groomed, and looking like a twenty three year old woman.

I usually moisturise and put my serum on just after I get out the shower and get ready, I use my Nivea everyday moisturiser (read here) and a superdrug/clarins serum. Recently I have been using the tinted moisturiser from Nivea as a base. WARNING – only use a small amount and blend, blend, blend!!!. I think that when a pea sized amount is applied to my whole face I get that dewy, sun kissed look that is perfectly blended into my face and neck. This stuff keeps my skin soft all day, perfect for winter when the chilly wind is bashing your face all day!

I then like to just use concealer and powder as I like to give my skin a rest from the heavy makeup I wear at a weekend. I use the Seventeen ‘WOW’ skin concealer in fair under my eyes, on my chin, forehead and nose just to smooth over and hide any imperfections in my skin. I am lucky that I only tend to break out when it’s that time of the month, and I normally keep it under control so don’t need heavy foundation. This concealer is great for brightening my skin with light coverage, It hides my dark circles and bags and makes me look like I’ve had more than enough sleep. I normally set the concealer with the L’oreal infallible 24H matte powder. This powder has become one of my favourite make up purchases this year, you don’t need a lot but it provides good coverage and sets everything perfectly. I also has a mirror too which is always a bonus!

I never like to spend too much time on my eyes for work as you don’t want masses of eyeliner or glittery shadows that make you look like you’re trying to hard impress someone in the office. I have found that cream eye shadows tend to last all day on my eyes and hold colour whist hiding the tired veins and pigmentation on your eyelids. I love to use the Maybelline colour tattoo creamy matte eye-shadows; in particular Crème de Rose (number 91). This a perfect brown/blush colour which when applied doesn’t move and really suits my brown eyes. I just use my finger to apply too which makes life so much easier if you are in a rush!

I then love to use mascara that opens my eyes and makes me look wide awake and ready for the day. This is normally the Rimmel – WONDER’FULL extreme black mascara with argan oil. The applicator is plastic which I don’t normally like, but this mascara provides so much lash lift and volume it’s incredible. I also love that is uses argan oil so my lashes stay long and lovely, read about how much I love argan oil here.

I have to make sure my eyebrows are on point. I have recently fallen in love with the Benefit Gimmie Brow (shade 5). I think it is the perfect way to give my brows definition and make them look thick and full. I notice brows instantly when I look at any make up look, so I always like mine to look perfect for work and when I’m not at work. I think the brows shape the face and actually make you look younger! It literally takes 20 seconds to achieve the perfect brow with this product so perfect for when your rushing out the door!

I love to have a bit of colour on my cheeks and this is usually a blusher instead of a bronzer as I think it makes me look more fresh! I love the Charlotte Tilbury ‘First Love’ Blusher for this as I think it provides the perfect flush of colour but doesn’t make you look artificial. The shades are a light and dark matte rose gold and they look super pretty when mixed together and popped on the apples of my cheeks! I really love CT products and think that they provide the look that you want all of the working day! Yes this blusher is an expensive one, so you can find similar ones in the drugstore, but I cant guarantee that they will last your working day!

So you all know I love a good lipstick, including my new favourite CT nude that you can read about HERE. For work however I don’t really like to go all out with a bright lip, or lipstick in general. I get scared that I won’t find a mirror and then have lipstick looking patchy my lips or on my teeth in a meeting! Therefore I prefer a gloss. I love the Clarins instant light lip perfector lip glosses as they look super natural but then off a little shade of colour! They also last a long time and can be reapplied really easily, even without a mirror which is always handy if your en route down the corridor in a rush to your 10th meeting of the day!

What make up look do you like to wear to work?! Do you go whole hog or no make up at all?! I’d love to know! Let me know either on Twitter, Instagram or in the comments below!

Id also like to thank you for reading, today I started my blog 5 months ago and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my whole life, I absolutely LOVE being a blogger.

Reading about makeup, makes me want to go out and buy more. A few years ago, I use to slap on the makeup all the time but now that’s stopped unless it’s an occasion, then all my makeup comes out to play.

    Your photos look great!

    Thanks for sharing!

These all sound like great products! I really wish I could wear tinted moisturiser but I have quite red skin and I always feel likeI need more coverage! I love a natural look so I’ll have to try and give some of these products a go (especially the CT blush, it looks GORGEOUS)

My job doesn’t require me to face clients or bosses, so I can get away with wearing no makeup at all or even a black lipstick when I feel like it!

I love reading your comments! xo
