The perfect Christmas/NYE party look using high street products

I have decided to do a high street selection of products and a high end selection of products to help everyone with their Christmas party look. This post includes all products that you can get from the high street drugstores.  Do you want to look the most glamorous at your Christmas/ NYE party but have quite a small budget for make-up? Well I’m here to help you become the belle of the ball on a low budget!

For me Christmas is the time to go super glam on your make-up. Now is the time for lots of highlighter, glitter, and red lips. I always like to wear a lot of make up for a Christmas party as it makes me feel confident and festive. When I say a lot of makeup I still mean sophisticated and sassy by the way… I love that you can get so many different types of great make up for an affordable price off the high street. Over the years I have found many beauty staples that I use now on a day-to-day basis, and some of them are PERFECT for Christmas and NYE. So here’s my high street look!. – NOTE before I apply any kind of makeup I use a good moisturiser (Nivea) and then either a cream or gel primer depending on my skin that day. I love the Rimmel London 25 hour Primer – read here.

I love the Rimmel London 25 hour Lasting Finish skin perfecting full coverage foundation. I currently use the shade ‘100 Ivory’ as I am quite pale, but it is the EXACT match to my skintone. This means no awkward orange foundation lines round my neck in front of colleagues! I find that it lasts a really long time and keeps my skin matte . This is the perfect foundation for those of you that want to dance all night long without looking sweaty, and slightly intoxicated. – read more about this foundation here in a dedicated post I published in summer.

So think that this is an incredible make up find which no one seems to have hyped up. The Seventeen Miracle Matte loose powder (translucent) is so AMAZING. Once applied to my t-zone my makeup doesn’t move. This powder provides a matte finish and really helps tackle shine which I get a lot of on my nose and chin. After I’ve used it I don’t really need to carry a powder in my clutch anymore as it tends to actually keep shine at bay all night. This powder is super affordable, I urge you to buy it as you will love it instantly!

The Collection contour kit has been a permanent favourite for me for a long time now. This kit was featured in my High street vs. High end post where I compared it to the Charlotte Tilbury Film star bronze and glow palette (read here). The highlight is a really light pearl/gold shade and provides a glowing shimmer to the top of your cheeks. The highlight also remains for a long time; however I do have to top it up every few hours. The contour shade when applied lightly provides that perfect chiselled cheekbone look. This palette is really affordable and makes your make up look beautiful and fit for any festive party!

I love a Rimmel Blusher. This is one of the lasting finish soft colour mono blushers. In particular this rose gold shade called ‘santa rose’. I like to dust a very small amount on the apples of my cheeks for a warm flush of colour. Don’t go too overboard with blusher as it can make you look really washed out or clash with your red lipstick. You also don’t want your colleagues or friends thinking that you’ve all of a sudden got ridiculously hot on the dance floor!

The Rimmel London Natural Bronzer has been one of my favourites from the drugstore for a long time. It provides the perfect amount of bronze when applied lightly over my cheeks and on the top of my forehead and neck. I love to look healthy at Christmas even if I’ve stuffed my face with a whole tin of quality streets – Bronzer helps hide a multitude of sins! This shade is not too muddy or red toned and really suits pale skin. This will definitely be part of my Christmas look this year!

The Natural Collection brow kit is the most affordable, DECENT brow kit out there. I love that it’s only £1.99 but comes with a powder, wax, spooley and angled brush to create a full and defined brow. This is perfect if you want your brows to look flawless in all the party pictures from dusk til dawn. You can read even more about the natural collection brow products HERE!

When I think Christmas make up I think about beautiful eye makeup that looks defined and sparkly! I also love eye shadows that come in quads so I can recreate the perfect eye look with shades I know go perfectly together. This Rimmel London eye quad does exactly that. There are even instructions underneath to show you where to apply each shade. This eye quad will provide you with the perfect Christmas look, with matte and shimmer shades you are guaranteed a festive look and you get it all for under £5 – RESULT.

As I have chosen to do an affordable Christmas make up look I haven’t included any false lashes. However I have chosen the PERFECT false lash effect mascara which opens your eyes and lifts all of your lashes. The Rimmel London  Scandaleyes ‘Volume lash scandal eyes’ mascara  (FYI this post is not sponsored by Rimmel I just love their products) provides the perfect lash lift! The chubby applicator wand picks up each lash and applies the perfect amount of product without making your lashes look clumpy. As you know I like to go all out with make up at Christmas I use a an extreme black shade for extra definition to the eyes!

I couldn’t not choose a red lipstick for a Christmas/New Year party look! This red in particular is perfect for the festive season. Sleek’s ‘Rioja Red’ liquid lipstick is perfect for any party. I would recommend a liquid lipstick for a party as you don’t have to keep applying it and it won’t smudge! This one is one from the Christmas collection – read here, but you can buy this shade in full size. The applicator for sleek liquid lipsticks allows you to get away with not using red lip liner. This will surely guarantee you a kiss under the mistletoe yes?!

I have that Rimmel Blusher too; love it! I’ve heard great things about that Collection contour and highlight palette – would you recommend it? I’m not great at contour so is it easy to use? Great post! Xx

Hello! Thanks for reading beaut! The blushers are good aren’t they?! And yes would totally recommend, I think it’s under £5 and it’s really good. I apply it lightly and the build it up, but if you have never had a contour kit then a powder one is a good way to start, you also need a good brush! I use a real techniques contour brush kit one xxx let me know if you need any more help xxxx
