When you apply your make up and spend ages making it look perfect you want it to stay in place all day. I love knowing that my make up is set and ready for whatever weather condition or stress hits me. Over the years I have discovered 2 products that help prolong my make up every day.
Setting my make up is now a crucial step of my everyday make up routine. I can see such a difference now looking at photos of my make up before I used setting techniques and after. The difference is that I actually still have make up on my face and everything looks just as defined and covered since the moment I applied my make up that morning.
My top two products to set your make up with include a loose powder and a setting spray. I really think these two both work well at making my complexion stay matte and my make up stay flawless!
Firstly once I have applied my base and concealer I love to set them with a loose or pressed powder to make sure I achieve a matte finish and that my make up stays in place. About 1 year ago I discovered the SEVENTEEN Miracle Matte Loose Powder. This powder is a matte powder which is oil free! My skin type is normal/oily. I get quite a lot of shine on my t-zone area throughout the day so I love to use oil free products to take away added oil to my skin.
I love a dewy look, however I don’t love it when my face is super shiny. My using a loose powder you can control the areas where you would like to to make matte, leaving the dewy skin finish looking as natural as possible without being too shiny.
Loose powder is a great product as you never need a lot of it, but it always works instantly. This powder comes in a pot with two compartments. The powder is stored in the bottom with a lid above containing small holes to let the powder out so you have control in dispensing it! I currently use a small powder brush from Real Techniques to apply the powder to my shiny spots such as my tzone and chin. A brush like this is great as it controls the application of the powder in the most delicate of places such as under the eyes. The SEVENTEEN miracle matte loose powder is currently £5.00 in Boots. This is such a good price for the amount of product you get and the quality.
I usually apply all my base products and eye products finishing with mascara last. Just before I apply my mascara I use a setting spray to make sure everything it set in place and pristine!
An urban decay store has opened up in Nottingham City Centre – and I went to have a little nosy. I don’t own many urban decay products but I always here from other beauty bloggers and vloggers about how amazing the setting sprays are. At first I wanted the ‘All Nighter’ spray but the shop assistant recommended that the ‘De-Slick’ spray would be more suited to my skin as it prevents oil and shine.
With this make up setting spray you just need 2-3 spritz’s onto your face and neck to help set your make up in place. I have found that De-Slick spray dries super quick and leaves no shine or residue on the skin. Ever since I have used this spray my finished make up looks always look brighter and my skin remains refreshed throughout the day. I feel like the spray gives my skin extra hydration too.
This spray is £23 – quite exspensive for a setting spray if you have never used one before. I have the travel size though which is only £10 saving you a lot of money. The product has lasted me ages and I will buy another travel size one in the future as it fits perfectly in my make up bag when im going away anywhere as its not big and bulky like the full size version which about the size of a small hairspray bottle.
