So its officially spring and all I can think about is what colour tulips I want to have in my house next! As the weather gets warmer and the sun is shining I love to freshen my make up up to suit the blossoming spring months!
Everything begins to get better in spring, including my skin! I tend to change up my skin care for spring (READ HERE) and my make up becomes less matte and more dewy and hydrated!
I love fresh, flushed and glowing make up looks in spring. I like to feel like I haven’t got too much make up on yet have a good lipstick that draws everything together perfect for spring.
I have recently fallen in love with the Collection ‘Prime and Ready’ pore minimiser gel primer and its safe to say its so good at keeping my oily t-zone matte. It blurs out my pores and my make up sits on top really well. I love Collection products, especially their concealer as they are high quality and super affordable. For anyone that loves The Body Shop ‘Wonder Blur’ primer then this is a great dupe!
To achieve a lovely dewy finish to the skin I love to apply my trusty Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation ( I’m shade 100 Ivory). This foundation is medium coverage and really matches your skin tone. Its easy to blend and doesn’t budge all day until you remove it! This foundation also contains SPF 20 so is perfect for sunny days! I love this wear this foundation for everyday wear, then apply my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation in an evening for fuller coverage.
This year is certainly still largely focused on brows for me, so I love to use my favourite products to achieve brow goals! To first define my brows I use the Maybelline ‘Master brow palette’ which I really love. I use the deep brown palette which is the perfect shade for my brows and the powder is soft enough but still adds definition, its not thick/chalky at all!
I then love to set and add volume to my brows using my Benefit Gimmie Brow in shade 5 which I recently got for my 24th Birthday (read about that HERE) & I ADORE it. Just one application of this stuff on your brows literally brings them to life. I have to say this is my make up product of the year already and I doubt it will change!
I think springtime is all about natural/peachy/pinky looks for eyes with a bit of added sparkle for celebrations!. With that thought in mind I think that the Sleek ‘Diamonds in the Rough’ Palette is so beautiful. For a full review and swatches take a look at my post on it HERE. FYI if you get it from the Sleek Website HERE its currently 50% off – YAY. The pinks and rose gold shades within this palette allow you to create so many different looks for spring.
I have also fallen in love with full volume lashes at the moment and have been using my Benefit Roller Lash Mascara so much! It separates your lashes and makes them look so pretty. I use an eyelash curler for extra volume but then the mascara holds up your lashes all day and keeps them fluttery! This is a great mascara to try if you want to change it up a bit!
Blush and Highlight
I love to add an extra flush of colour to my cheeks with a beautiful blusher in spring followed by some gorgeous highlight! My go to blusher at the moment is this KIKO blusher – unfortunately its a limited edition one but a peachy pink shade would achieve the same results!
I have also fallen back in love with my NARS Illuminator in ‘COPACABANA‘. You only need a small amount of this highlight on your cheekbones to get the most incredible dewy pink glow. I tend to use either my fingers or a beauty blender to apply it.
I have been waiting all winter to get out my bright pink lipsticks and now is the time! At the end of summer last year I got my hands on the gorgeous NYX soft matte lip cream in the shade ‘Ibiza’. This to me screams spring/summer and is perfect to brighten up any spring make up look. I love pinky orange tones, they really suit brown/red hair too. Have you tried any of the lip creams from NYX? what shades do you have?
Surprisingly in spring im all about nude/white/pale pink nails! I think they look really pretty and delicate. I recently won a giveaway and got this Essie polish in the shade ‘Ballet Slipper’. Its a super pale pink which is so beautiful on any skin tone. Essie polishes are so long lasting and hard wearing so I totally recommend if you’ve not tried them before!
See in the below pic my swatches of the lipstick, blusher and highlight. Don’t they go together so well?!!
What do you think of my spring make up look? I love the sun getting brighter and the longer days as its a change to get more adventurous with brighter make up! Let me know what you think on my Twitter and follow my on my Instagram for daily updates of my life in pictures!
