So for my 24th Birthday my parents gifted me this beautiful Urban Decay Naked 3 eye shadow palette and oh lord its BEAUTIFUL. So beautiful that I thought i’d do a little review now I have used every single shade within this palette!
Urban Decay are a brand that I have always admired from a far but have never really tried. 2017 however is definitely the year me and Urban Decay have made a connection, I have brought and fallen in love with so many of their products!
The Urban Decay Naked palettes have been around while and I’ve always had my eye on them. I never could decide if I wanted a more neutral toned one or the naked smokey palette. My friend then got this for her birthday and I thought this was totally the one for me too!
The pink, rose gold, rich brown and grey shades within the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette are all shades that I have used everyday in other eye shadow palettes for years. For so long I have had to use at least 2 palettes to get the perfect shades for my eye look but with this palette you have everything in one!
Straight away when I saw palette this I was drawn to the four middle shades – ‘Buzz’ (shimmery rose pink), ‘Trick’ (shimmery bronze), ‘Nooner’ (matte chocolate brown) and ‘Liar’ (shimmery light chocolate brown). I knew instantly that I could use any one of these shades and create such a nice eye look that’s my style.
I love to split this palette into three when deciding my eye looks. These are girly pink shimmer looks, brown shimmer and smokey eye looks, and then dark smokey eye for a more glam evening look!
I always use the matte cream shade ‘strange’ for any look as an eye shadow base it is great at neutralising the red pigmentation on my eyelids. I tend to use the chocolate smokey brown eye look the most as it contains my favourite shades within the palette and makes my brown eyes pop!
Of course you can make any look using shades within this palette together, but these are my 3 go to!
I also love that this palette has a great double ended eye shadow brush AND a great mirror! One end of the brush is fluffy for blending shadow onto the lid and crease and then the other end of the brush is more flat and precise for packing on the shimmery shadows! I tend to wet the tapered side so the shimmer looks more emphasised and the bristles become more precise for application. The mirror is plenty big enough to do your whole face makeup which is great – I tend to use this mirror for my brows and my eye shadow.
The shadows in this palette are great for blending and great for stay put. I tend to use the MAC prep and prime shadow primer and then set my eye shadow with the urban decay setting spray (READ HERE). I use a setting spray before my mascara to make sure everything stays put and there is no fall out! The shadows never crease on the lid and they also keep there shimmer all day and night – something which I really love about them. It annoys me so much when shimmer shadows are shimmery for like 10 minutes then fade to nothing!
I will be taking this palette on holiday with me as its perfect for chucking in a case as the metal casing is so robust. I also then don’t have to take an eye shadow brush and mirror in my make up bag!
If you fancy a new eye shadow palette or have never owned one then this is great for beginners who would love to play around with learning how to create pretty eye looks. Its also a great palette to add to any make up collections as the shades are so diverse to create tonnes of looks.
