I decided to have a month off from blogging, not because I fell out of love with it – I’ve just been super busy. I’ve been on holiday, got a promotion at work #girlboss, and have tried to pull myself out of a really negative and anxious state of mind. There have been a few things in August that have made me so happy and have been my favourites, so what better way to come back from my blog break with a favourites post!
August is the perfect month to change up your make up to be more fresh faced and vibrant, and change your skincare to deal with a tan and dry hair and skin! My August favourites definitely reflect the effect the sun and heat has had on my skin this month!
Beauty/Make up Favourites:
3ina Gold Highlight
You’ve probably seen on my Instagram recently that I spoke about 3ina Cosmetics – a global cosmetics brand that’s now available in the UK online or on asos. I would say its very sleek and chic and is very similar to kiko. in August 3ina sent me 3 items from their best selling products – one of them was a beautiful gold highlighter. ‘The Highlighter 201’ is so affordable. I have really fallen in love with it. Its super pretty, not massively pigmented… but is perfect for when you want that minimal make up look. I have heard they do a pearly pink one too!
MAC Cosmetics Amplified Lipstick: ‘Vegas Volt’
I did the standard pop to MAC in the airport and buy a lipstick trip this month and wow was it the best thing I ever did. I’ve found my new favourite lipstick. I’ve heard about the shade Vegas Volt before but always thought it was too bright/wouldn’t suit me. I said to the lady in MAC that I wanted a peachy lipstick for my holiday and she tried loads out on me. This shade was the last one I tried. Its full coral pigment is amazing, long lasting, and really easy to apply. It would look great on any skin tones but i’d definitely recommend it if you have dark brown/black hair. I will re purchasing soon as I’ve applied it nearly every day!
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation
In August John Lewis Chelmsford were giving out Free complexion sessions with a member of the Charlotte Tilbury beauty team – so obviously I went and booked my free session straight away! The session with the beauty team was 20 minutes – Michaela my make up artist did my make up to give me a fresh golden glow and flawless complexion. Part of this included her asking me if I wanted a matte or dewy skin finish so I decided to go with dewy. She then applied the Light Wonder Foundation (shade 3) to my skin and I instantly fell in love with it. It provides light/medium coverage but makes your skin look flawless!. As long as you use a flat foundation brush you can really control the coverage of the foundation and make your skin look illuminated. I purchased one straight away and really enjoy using it when my skin is looking really healthy and blemish free.
Skincare/Hair Care favourites:
St Ives Oatmeal Face Scrub and Mask
This month I have had such bad dry skin on my face, leading to a few blemishes. When I went to my Charlotte Tilbury complexion session the make up artist said that an exfoliator would really help remove dry skin but make sure its a hydrating one. I therefore went round Boots and Superdrug until I stumbled across the ‘oatmeal face scrub and mask’ from St Ives. I’ve never tried the St Ives brand before but now I can’t wait to make some more purchases from them! This exfoliating scrub is really gentle on my skin, with oatmeal and honey providing hydration and nourishment. I now use this twice a week and its really made a difference. I’m so happy I’ve found this before winter approaches as I reckon it will be a lifesaver!
Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Body Lotion:
I’m clearly loving oat and almond scented skin care this month! When I came back from my holiday I ran out of after sun. I then looked through all the body lotions and potions and thought the Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Body Lotion would provide the most hydration and moisture back into my skin. Soap and Glory is such a good brand for affordable and amazing quality skin products – if you’ve never tried them before you definitely should! The huge bottle of this amazing body lotion has now decreased in capacity by half and I’ve got used to using it every day after my morning shower. The pump applicator makes it so easy to apply and the scent of it is so dreamy. The scent also lasts all day. I’ve even had compliments at work about how good I smell and its all down to this amazing body lotion!
Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Super Food Facial Oil
This year I have fallen I love with serums, in particular the serums from Dr Botanicals. They kindly sent me their Rose Super food Facial Oil a few months ago and this month it has really helped my skin repair and recover from days spent in the sun. I love this serum because its pink, really easy to apply with the pipette applicator, and really good at drying before applying to your moisturiser. My boyfriend says every night that I smell lovely and its all down to the beautiful subtle rose scent in the oil.I use a few drops of this every night as part of my night time skin care routine and its made my skin look more plump and healthy every morning since I began using it.
Umberto Giannini Pool Proof Leave in Protection Cream
I really hate dry and brittle hair after a day at the pool or beach on holiday. I decided to do a Holiday Hair Care post last month looking for different products to help my hair this summer and on vacay!. I decided to look for some kind of leave in conditioner to apply every day of my holiday and I certainly found an amazing one! The Umberto Giannini Pool Proof Leave in protection cream is so good at keeping hair protected from chlorine, sun, and the sea. I applied it everyday over braids and it kept my hair conditioned and tangle free for my whole holiday!
All of my August favourites this month were suited around the change in weather, but I will carry most of these through to the cooler months to come. They are all affordable, good quality beauty and skin care products – you can’t get any better than that can you?
Its so good to be back,
