This palette has to be one of my most expensive make up purchases – but it was completely and utterly worth every penny. I have been using this palette for the past two months now and can now say after using the palette almost every day that this is the most honest and helpful review.
I have admired the YouTuber Jaclyn Hill for a long time. She is genuine, honest, and humble even though she’s probably one of the most well paid and famous YouTubers on the planet!
I watched her video on her recent collaboration with Morphe Cosmetics creating one of the most amazing eye shadow palettes that was high quality and that every one of her subscribers could afford. This palette is the Jaclyn Hill X Morphe palette which can be bought exclusively from the Morphe website. I decided to take the plunge and treat myself spending £60 getting the palette delivered with customs charges.
The Jaclyn Hill X Morphe Palette contains 35 amazing eye shadows in a variety of shades from neutral warm shadows, to cool toned shadows & duo chrome shimmers. The white packaging when you first receive the palette is also stunning!
I love this palette as you can create so many looks and the shadows have such great pigment, blend-ability and stay power. There are also shades for every season, everyday situations such as work, natural looks, smokey eyes, and ultra glam looks. I also think the shades in the palette would be beautiful for any wedding looks!
You get a small card within the palette that provides you with each name of every shadow shade. My favourites are:
Beam, Silk Creme, Pooter, Firework, Queen, Cranapple, Buns, and Chip.
These are all pink, rose gold, champagne, and tan shades which create the most amazing girly and classy eye looks!
I cant wait for autumn and winter when I can create smokey eye looks, Halloween eyes with the turquoise shade ‘Pool Party’ and Christmas looks with the forest green matte ‘Enchanted’ and forest green metallic ‘Diva’.
Don’t you agree that the names of every shade in this palette are absolutely perfect?!
Jaclyn spent so long (2 years) creating this palette so it can suit all skin tones and I really think it does. I have really fair skin so don’t need to apply lots of shadow to get pay off. Recently I did my best friends make up before a night out and the same shades didn’t need much application on her deep dark skin tone. I think out of the 35 shades included you will definitely find shades that make any skin tone or eye colour ‘pop’!
The metallic shadows also look amazing went wet first before applying with a flat eye shadow brush. I tend to wet my brush with a setting spray like the ‘Urban Decay – All nighter’ before putting my brush into the shadow and applying.
The shimmer shadows are really pretty in the palette and range from champagnes to dark purple and greens. I really enjoy playing with them and creating really glamourous looks. I have also used the two gold shimmer shadows ‘Enlight’ and ‘Beam’ as highlighters.
I have swatched some of the more bright and colourful shades in the palette so you can see just how pigmented they are. Check out ‘Pool Party’ and ‘Hunts’ (orange).
Although the shadows have great stay put they are really easy to remove. I use either the Clarins Gentle Eye Make up remover for heavy looks or the Garnier Micellar Water for more natural eye make up. These shadows also don’t stain the skin around your eyes when removing them. This is so lovely and rare nowadays with really pigmented shadows, especially with the black shade ‘Abyss’ which glides of when you try and remove.
Although this palette is expensive for anyone who lives in the UK in the US it costs just as much as the Charlotte Tilbury eye shadow quads which only contain 4 shadows. The formulas of the Morphe shadows are so amazing easy for any one to use whether you are just starting in out with make up or are a full time make up artist.
I really think the Jaclyn Hill X Morphe Palette is totally worth it – I hope I never hit pan on mine!
